Entwicklungen im Bereich Artificial Intelligence (AI) und deren Folgen beschäftigen derzeit ein interdisziplinäres Forschungsfeld. Es wird diskutiert, dass durch die Nutzung bestimmter Datensätze zum Trainieren selbstlernender Systeme diskriminierende Strukturen aus Vergangenheit und Gegenwart automatisiert reproduziert werden und damit Zukunft formen.
Im Projekt ArtiFEM setze ich mich gemeinsam mit meinen Kolleginnen Nina Grünberger (TU Darmstadt) und Julia Koller (JGU Mainz) kritisch mit der Perpetuierung von Diskriminierung und Ungleichheit durch AI-Anwendungen auseinander und fragen nach den Implikationen im Hinblick auf Bildungsungleichheiten und gesellschaftliche Ungleichheitsverhältnisse und damit für Bildung.
Unser Ziel ist der Aufbau eines Netzwerkes zur Erschließung dieses innovativen Forschungsfeldes an der Schnittstelle von AI, Bildung und Feminismus. Dabei haben wir ein breites Verständnis von Feminismus – einschließlich queer-feministischer und postkolonialer Perspektiven.
Workshops und gemeinsame Publikationen, in deren Zentrum kollaborative Auseinandersetzungen mit einschlägiger Literatur zu AI im Bildungskontext einerseits und aus dem Bereich feministischer Theorien andererseits stehen, bilden die Basis für das mittelfristige Ziel eines umfassenden Langantrages. So soll im RMU-Verbund eine feministische Lesart von AI-Entwicklungen im Bildungsbereich etabliert werden.
Developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and their consequences are currently occupying an interdisciplinary field of research. It is discussed that by using certain data sets to train self-learning systems, discriminative structures from the past and present are automatically reproduced and thus shape the future.
In the ArtiFEM project, together with my colleagues Nina Grünberger (TU Darmstadt) and Julia Koller (JGU Mainz), I critically analyse the perpetuation of discrimination and inequality through AI applications and ask about the implications for educational and social inequalities and thus for education.
Our aim is to create a network to develop this innovative area of research at the intersection of AI, education and feminism. We have a broad understanding of feminism – including queer-feminist and postcolonial perspectives.
Workshops and joint publications, focusing on collaborative discussions of relevant literature on AI in educational contexts on the one hand, and from the field of feminist theories on the other, form the basis for the medium-term goal of a comprehensive long-term application. The aim is to establish a feminist reading of AI developments in education within the RMU network.
