- Infrastrukturen. Oder: Was [uns] trägt.

When did you last think about (critical) infrastructure? Probably not until something broke down or until you didn’t fit into its rigid classifications …
This winter, my lecture series ›Current Debates in Educational Research‹ at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität turns to Infrastructures across three thematic blocks:
- Infrastructures. Or: What sustains [us]?
- Infrastructures and/in Education
- Infrastructures and/in Movement
Together with students, external guests from other disciplines, and colleagues from the Institute of Education Research, we will ask how infrastructures pervade, structure, and condition our everyday lives in many ways. Despite their truly ›load-bearing‹ role, they remain largely invisible and usually only become visible in moments of disruption. Infrastructures are not merely technical and, as such, central to transport and mobility; they also classify. They stabilize orders so seamlessly that only their failure reveals how much work goes into them. And all of this is highly relevant for pedagogy and education research.
With guest lectures (in person) by Mathias Decuypere, Sebastian Gießmann, Fanny Isensee, Dominik Krinninger, Franziska Primus, Gabriele Schabacher, Lourens van Haaften and Jana Wodicka.
🎨 Throughout the semester, students will create Zines, weaving together ideas from the guest lectures, infrastructure theory, and their own encounters with infrastructures. In a workshop with Stefan Bast they will learn how to do so.
The lectures are public and guests are warmly welcome.
